Appreciate the progress

When I first started running.

I was looking for something

SOMETHING outside of myself

To make ME better

When I stopped chasing

And looked

At the progress I’d made

I could see that in

Searching for SOMETHING externally

Was, is, and will remain futile

Strength, courage, resilience,

Getting up after falling

I already had this

Running acted as a flashlight

Highlighting what was already in me

It is very easy to be hard on yourself

It is very easy to mask pain or fear

But not so easy to pat yourself on the back

Challenges will always arise

So why pay more attention to them

Instead of

Paying attention to your progress

How has your journey made you

The person you are today?
